Zest Protocol is on a mission to expand the Bitcoin economy by building the first on-chain Bitcoin capital markets. We’re building a Bitcoin lending protocol that enables Bitcoin liquidity providers to earn Bitcoin yield through professionally managed lending pools. Zest pools lend to the most credit-worthy participants in the Bitcoin economy, allowing them to borrow against their future earnings and thus growing the Bitcoin economy.
Zest Protocol is incubated from Trust Machines. The mission of Trust Machines is to grow the Bitcoin economy. We’ve recently raised $150M to realize this vision, build Bitcoin apps, and the open-source technologies required to unleash the true potential of Bitcoin for DeFi and Decentralized Applications.
We are a remote friendly-company — with our headquarters in New York and a strong commitment to ensuring people can do great work here and thrive without having to live near an office. This role is open to candidates across the world.
We’re looking to work with a full-stack developer in our remote team who can help us scale Zest Protocol’s infrastructure. Zest Protocol interacts with both stacks and bitcoin blockchains. The ideal candidate has deep JS experience. As our first full-stack engineer, you’ll be responsible for co-designing and implementing the backend and frontend infrastructure foundation for Zest Protocol.
What You’ll Do:
Design backend systems that allow Zest Protocol to scale effectively, includes:
Managing APIs
Managing websocket connections
Managing and serving cached data from the blockchain to provide better UX
Inform decisions on how to scale up and host the application
Make architecture decisions for the off-chain infrastructure that improve speed and reliability of our services
Implement features and components designed by designer, includes:
Creating React components and integrating them into Next.js
Making effective decisions for managing state, global state, session state
What We’re Looking For:
4+ years of experience full-stack development
Demonstrable experience of full stack development, with both frontend and backend work on a team with engineers and designers
Expert in JavaScript, Typescript, Node.js, git & command-line environment
Experience in React, Next.jsNe
Experience with hosting backend services on various cloud providers (GCP/AWS/Vercel)
Experience with frontend testing techniques
Experience with CI/CD tools
Proven architectural design skills for creating efficient code patterns that are optimized for both speed and performance
Basic knowledge of how smart contracts & web wallets work

Self-motivated & experience in working with small teams
Attitude of humbleness towards technology and the risks of creating problems from trying to solve problems too early
Experience building applications that interact with blockchains
